16th Week

During 16th Week I didn't attend the seminar. The main reason for this was that after checking emails we had no replies regarding the press release. therefore, I decided to ring around the media companies to check if we had the right contact details.

After calling the media companies a lot responded in telling me to resent the email or gave me alternative email addresses. So I resent all the emails to the companies with hope of replies, positive or negative.

15th Week

Week 15 we learnt about creative briefs and how to be most effective in writing one. Our group decided to re look at the one lookout created and we felt as though the brief given to us wasn't the best as it lacked crucial detail such as the objective and the audience they wanted us to target.

In the seminar we checked to see if we had any replies from Ella's email which we did not. We decided to re create what the main email would say and we all personalised our own. We are going to email all the media companies before next seminar.

14th Week

Week 14 was about presenting data and persona. The seminar discussed the concept of collecting data and that it is important when collecting data to use the right narrative, language and visuals to capture the audience. I also learnt about persona data and how much detail is necessary to stay relevant. It was interesting learning about presenting data because it is a key aspect of what lookout is about. So, it was good to learn more about what lookout do as a company.

During the seminar we also split the media list into who was going to contact who and we made sure that every company was covered. We also created a daft on how we would start of the email in order to try grab the audiences attention to read the press release. Ella sent out the first two emails.

13th Week

This week we was given the brief for assignment 2 which included creating a 5minute video which would highlight our creative outputs during The Big Agency. So, during the seminar we planned when we would record this video and what we thought would be the best way to present it. The seminar also gave us examples of what makes a good vide.

During the seminar I created an email address so that we could send the press release from the same account so that it appeared more professional. We also thought it would be easier to monitor the replies and who emails were being sent to.

12th Week

This week we was given our marks back from our PDR I achieved 64 which is the equivalent to a 2:1 which I am pleased with. Mark also had one to one with us all and gave us feedback. I appreciated his feedback and I will take it on board for my next assignment.

Before the Christmas break we was able to update our press release with Nicks recommendations and he replied over the break that we was ready to send out. Nick also sent us some media companies to add to our list. Emily then found the contact details and added it our database ready for when we send out the press release.

11th Week

During the 11th week there was no Big Agency workshop as we was encouraged to collect primary data. We decided that we should collect primary research on how to create the best press release. We asked one of Ellas friend Camilla who works in a PR firm how to write good press release. Here are some factors she suggested:
  •  A catchy heading/subject
  • When sending an email containing the press release said it first thing the morning so it is one of the first emails to be read.
  • A good opening paragraph to sum up the press release
  • include quotes
We managed to change our press release so that it would be ready to send out after Christmas break. In addition, we sent out our media list to Nick with all the companies that we are going to send the press release to.

10th Week

During week 10 it is all about completing our PDR forms ready for assignment 1. With a deadline on the 14/12/16 we have to complete the form and upload it onto the moodle system. I have thankfully completed my PDR and will end uploading after this blog post.

My group have created the 1st draft of the press release and I then sent off the draft where Nick replied with suggestions. He wants to change quite a bit of content which means it's going to take a bit more time before it is ready to send out to the media. However, with only a few days till end of term I'm not sure how this is going to be completed.

In addition, we still need to provide a list of media who we have chosen to contact as well as the PR companies something we still haven't achieved. Hopefully by the end of the week when the deadlines are gone it will be easier to complete.
