10th Week

During week 10 it is all about completing our PDR forms ready for assignment 1. With a deadline on the 14/12/16 we have to complete the form and upload it onto the moodle system. I have thankfully completed my PDR and will end uploading after this blog post.

My group have created the 1st draft of the press release and I then sent off the draft where Nick replied with suggestions. He wants to change quite a bit of content which means it's going to take a bit more time before it is ready to send out to the media. However, with only a few days till end of term I'm not sure how this is going to be completed.

In addition, we still need to provide a list of media who we have chosen to contact as well as the PR companies something we still haven't achieved. Hopefully by the end of the week when the deadlines are gone it will be easier to complete.

9th Week

During 9th week, Emily finished the media list which means we now have to choose ones to target with lookout! Press releases. There are going to have to be companies that we believe Lookout! would benefit the most from. Such as B2B magazines and newspapers as these will hit the target market the most.

We also had another meeting with Nick who explained what he would like us to focus on, which was the power-gen press release statement. We haven't seen Nick for a few weeks so it was good to catch up and know that we are on the right track. However, he has set us a deadline to get a press release written and provide him the a list of media we would like to contact.

This means that by before we break up for Christmas term we need a press release written and signed off by him.

8th Week

After researching the different newspapers and magazines, mark suggested creating a database with all the contact information to use at a later date. Me and Emily created the database for the newspapers and magazines collecting addresses, emails and telephone numbers. Next week Emily will do the same but with the PR companies.

Ella started the creation of the Gantt chart that Nick from lookout! Requested which will contain all the information of events lookout! Have coming up in the next few months.

Hopefully after the data is finalised we will be able to make a start in creating content to move the PR campaign along.

The lesson was about competitor anaylsis and previous meetings suggested that their competitors where mustard. However lookout! Have competitor advantage with their lookout character as it creates their identity.

7th Week

During week 7, it was all about collecting data regarding the different PR companies that lookout! Could reach out to. Nick from lookout! Also produced a range of different PR companies across Manchester and the North West which helped us conduct our research a bit more quicker. We also researched different magazines and newspaper that lookout! Could potentially use in order to put across their ask the expert type column.  .

The workshop also delivered the ethics forum that needs to be filled in, this is for when we carry out primary research. The research ethics form sets the principles when conducting the primary research and the participants. It's about the correct way to handle their data. We are yet to decide on the primary research that we will carry out.

6th Week

After a week off, this weeks tutorial was all about brainstorming ideas and creating a plan for our project.

Our project plan has little information at the moment but this should change when the project gets moving. We created lists that we believed needs to be carried out in order to get the best ideas going for the project.

I think we are going to have to carry out a lot of research in order to start an effective PR campaign. Any information or draft ideas that we have will put into DropBox so that we all can see it but also Nick as he wants to be involved.

We also had another meeting with Nick, after hearing from other groups how difficult it is for them to get in touch with their clients. I am glad Nick is so involved and is really available to get into contact with. The meeting also included the social media team where our group gave an overview of lookout! But also what Nick wants from us as a team. It seems as though Nick wants both the PR and Social Media team to work together. However, I do think having such a big group might effective productivity and could slow down any progress. Also, there was still 2 members missing from the social media team which could suggest some communication problems in the future.

We left the meeting with Nick wanting a quick 10 minute meeting every Wednesday after our tutorial so any queries or no information can be passed on.

5th Week

During my 5th week, me and my group created questions for our client LookOut! We created questions that would help us have a clear understanding of the project and what it is the client wanted us to do.

The next day we had a meeting with Nick at the LookOut! office which is conveniently located next to the John Dalton building on the MMU campus. Nick was really engaging and showed his enthusiasm for the company and to the fact that we was on board for the PR project. In addition to seeming really grateful that we was taking part, which made me a lot less nervous and looking forward to working along side him.

We was due to have a meeting with the social media group as well, but the social media team didn't respond in time. So I believe another meeting will be arranged so that we will be all together.

When I was first given the project I was quite confused and didn't really understand it was that the company actually did. But, I left the meeting with better knowledge of the company and also what they want us to carry out regarding the project.

4th Week

We unfortunately didn't get the project that we pitched for.

We were allocated the LookOut! PR project which I am sure we will enjoy participating in. LookOut! is a media company that carries out numerous different types of research for business. Together as a group will have to come up with a PR strategy for the company.

I am looking forward to developing new skills as well as experience a real life marketing project. Hopefully by the end of the project I will understand more clearly what aspects of marketing I enjoy and how I work best.
